Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Friday that Carrier (lower body) has undergone surgery and is facing a long-term absence, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Carrier (lower body) didn't participate in Sunday's practice and still has no timeline for his return to the lineup, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
The big power forward has good size, adequate skating ability and a knack for barreling his way to the front of the net. He has no trouble getting pucks on net but has yet to exhibit a consistent ability to finish at the NHL level. He plays well enough defensively to have value even if he does not capitalize on enough of his scoring chances.
Long Range Potential: Solid depth power forward.
